Skyway became the first company to sell a full nylon composite BMX wheel in 1974 with the release of the Skyway Tuff Wheel. In 1979 the Tuff II was released and remains in production today!
After many iterations of the design including the coaster, Kool Hub, DuPont labs Graphite Tuffs and Campy hubs the most popular current design is still based on the 1985 model with a molded hub. Skyway still produce all wheels in the USA at the original Redding California location.
Tuff wheels are still turning heads decades later. They are crazy popular with old school, vintage BMX and retro buyers looking to relive the best bits of their childhoods and share the love of BMX with their kids.
With lots of sizes and colours available, you can get something to suit almost any retro or modern BMX bike. If you are into all things 80’s BMX keep an eye out for limited production Skyway frames, framesets and complete bikes featuring the classic Skyway T/A (Totally Aerodynamic) CroMo tubing. Be quick, they sell out fast!
- You cannot add "Skyway Tuff II 5 Spoke 16" BMX Wheelset Black" to the cart because the product is out of stock.
