The world’s first injection molded nylon bicycle wheel is still available today! In 1974 Skyway developed the world first injection molded Nylon bicycle wheel for BMX. For almost 50 years SKYWAY has supplied millions of Tuff Wheels Worldwide to satisfied customers. Skyway Tuff wheels are still made in the USA.
Tuff II BMX wheels have been in production since 1979! The updaded design was lighter and claimed to be 30% stronger than first generation Tuff wheels.
Most current generation Tuff II wheels are produced on the revised 1985 design with a molded hub. Some limited edition wheelsets are available using versions of the earlier metal riveted Kool Hub design.
One thing is for sure, Tuff II wheels are an icon of BMX and still turn heads today like they did back in the day.
