You can easily repair Aerothan tubes using Schwalbe Glueless Patches. Roughening, as with a butyl tube, is not necessary (!do not use sandpaper!). Instead, the self-adhesive patches are directly placed on the area to be fixed. To do so, the surface should be as clean as possible. Using cleaning alcohol is recommended to improve the adhesion of the patch. Isopropyl alcohol wipes in small sachets are effective and can be conveniently carried with the patches. We expressly recommend Schwalbe Glueless Patches, as they are thinner and therefore more flexible than comparable products from other manufacturers. With self-adhesive patches from other manufacturers, it can happen that small air channels form between the patch and the Aerothane tube and thus air can escape from the tube again. (Additionally: Defects in the transition from the side wall to the tread are more difficult to seal. The reason for this is that a patch does not expand evenly in the radius to the tube and can partially detach. This creates smaller air channels that can lead to faster air loss. Here it is advisable to use two patches overlapping. See below).
