With Trail geometry and longer travel suspension the Highpoint is a better choice and a much more capable bike off-road than an XC bike.
The Suntour XCM fork is a simple and reliable coil spring design but it still has 5 inches of suspension fork travel, 25% more than some comparable bikes.
The drivetrain components are excellent, a Shimano Deore 1×10 setup including the crankset and bottom bracket. Deore is typically spec’d on bikes above $1,000.
The parts that other stand out are wheels and tires from Wilderness Trail Bikes: Tubeless Ready WTB rims matched with WTB Trail Boss 29 x 2.25 tires.
